Hello, guys and girls. Almost been two weeks since I last updated. Just came back from Penang a few days ago. Yes, like some people pointed out, I just went to a Penang trip just a few weeks ago. But this time I went because my relative, especially my grandma, wanted to see me one last time before I fly off to Southampton. So, for the past one week, there were quite a couple of dinners I attended. Not to mention all the praying and temple visits I've been doing there on the insistence of my grandma. (My wallet is practically filled with talismans and prayer paper now). Best thing was I received a lot of ang paus over there, filled with cash and scribbled with pretty inspirational chinese quotes. (Oh yes, I love the amount of money I get when going back to Penang) Worst thing was the internet connection over there. Connection was active at my grandma's house only 1-2 hours in the morning and dead the rest of the day =.=
Anyway, a post in Siew Kim's blog reminded me of a potential problem my relatives and sometimes, my friends like to point out. The issue isn't completely the same as hers, but in essence it's the same. As many of you know, I'm just 20 years old and already into my 3rd year of medical school. So, barring any exam failures, (touch wood, touch wood) I would be graduating at a pretty young age. Now, relatives have said before something I was a little apprehensive about myself. Would patients come to see a young doctor?
And it doesn't help matters when I have a rather baby-ish face. I myself confess that I rather be treated by a more older doctor than a younger one. So, when no patients come to see a young doctor, how to start earning $$$? Well, my relatives say they would come and see me, but what's in the mind can be different from what's spoken. What can I do now? People have suggested that I grow a beard or mustache, but I'm not really a fan of facial hair. Well, I can only hope that my face start maturing within the next few years otherwise I might just lose out to other competitors.
